How to Decorate Your Child's Bedroom with Military Camo Bedding

You cannot turn on the news now days without seeing something about the military and their adventures all across the world; whether it is an attack, more deployments, etc.  So, people are more aware of what the military is doing and the importance of their sacrifices for protecting their country.  A great example of this is the growth of military camouflage decorations.  Many young boys and girls have started to look up to the G.I. Joe phenomenon that has grown since I was a boy.

Have your children been asking to get their bedroom decorated in a new theme?  And are really interested in the military or camouflage?  Then here is a few ideas on how to help you turn their bedroom into their military base.

First off, let’s start with the bed.  It is easy to see why; the bed is the focal piece in the bedroom, mainly because it is the largest piece there.  Also you can choose from many different kinds of military camouflage bedding in different colors, so if you’re decorating for a boy or girl it won’t matter, because they will be able to find a color that they love. 

With our daughter, she is a big fan of pink.  So, it was a no brainer for her to choose the pink camo that she just cannot get enough of.  But, if you have a boy, he has a few more options that he will love.  You can go with a classic green, olive, or blue.

Next up is to take let’s take a look at the windows and walls!  Now you can have fun with this, don’t just let my ideas take over your thoughts.  But here are a few starter ideas for you.  Why not start with some window treatments; you can even find window treatments that will match the bedding on the bed!

Great colors for the walls are creams, tans, and whites.  These colors are easy to match, but are not necessarily military influenced.   And especially if you are not going with a classic camo theme like blue or pink these colors will work great.  Other ways to decorate the walls might be using a shadow box.  Some fun ways to decorate a shadow box is with a flag, action figurines, postcards and pictures, medals, etc.  They can be a really cool decoration and also preserve a memory of loved ones that have served.  If you are artistically inclined, consider painting a mural on one wall.  The options are endless, but here are a few ideas: tanks, jeeps, guns, etc.

Don’t forget the real reason why you are decorating your child’s bedroom.  It is a great way to show support for our military and the sacrifices that they give us every single day for putting their lives on the line.  It can be very special for family members that are in the army and a way for your kids can remember and think of their loved one’s even when they are oversea fighting for our country.
